| PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE What if every member of our society was empowered to age with a strong sense of self-determination and with the full support of the community? This question embodies the hopes, dreams and desires of our aging adult population. At the Foundation for Vital Aging, we know that in order to make this dream a reality, we must recognize the invaluable contributions made by older adults to the general good of our society, and in turn, ensure their optimal quality of life. The Foundation for Vital Aging has positioned itself as a leader in the development of innovative programs, training and research designed to support families and older adults. The role of the Foundation in ensuring the integrity of our communities and a successful aging process is more important today than ever before. The aging of the population and the increasing expectation placed on families mean that we constantly need to find new ways to address emerging issues and the resulting social service and health needs in our communities. The Foundation’s focus on innovation, training, applied research and the transference of knowledge is helping to fulfill the promise of every individual’s right to a better tomorrow. Through community capacity building, the Foundation acts as a catalyst to promote activities that will optimally transform the lives of older adults. I want to assure you that the Foundation will continue to do what matters, and that is, pursue its commitment to activities and programs that will improve the well-being of older adults, their families and all those that touch their lives. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to express our deepest appreciation for the contributions made by our staff, volunteers, partners and donors. I want to say thank you for sharing in our collective vision and for your generous support of the Foundation for Vital Aging. Leonard Kantor
